Dermal filler

Hyaluronic acid gel placed under the skin of the lips, cheeks, jawline or chin where volume has changed.

$650

per syringe

Includes the injection, topical numbing cream, and a follow-up check at two weeks. Sample prices, demo site.

How it works

Filler adds volume; it does not stop movement. Before anything is injected, your injector looks at the face from the front and from the side, explains what one syringe can and cannot do, and writes the plan down. Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with an enzyme if you do not like the result or if a complication needs it, which is the main reason it is the only filler we use.

Who does it

Our nurse practitioner or our medical director, never a non-medical staff member.

Time and sessions

Each session: 45-60 minutes, including numbing.

One visit. Hyaluronic acid breaks down in the body over months, at a pace that differs from person to person.

Downtime

Swelling is common for two to four days, most of all in the lips. Plan important events at least two weeks after.

Common side effects

  • Swelling, tenderness and bruising for a few days
  • Small lumps that usually settle with time or massage
  • Rare but serious: filler can block a blood vessel and damage the skin above it or, very rarely, affect vision. This is why only a nurse practitioner or physician injects, and why the enzyme that dissolves hyaluronic acid is kept in the room

Who should wait or skip it

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have an active cold sore near the area
  • You have had a severe allergic reaction to a filler before

Alternatives

  • Neurotoxin, if the lines come from movement rather than volume
  • Radiofrequency tightening for mild laxity along the jaw
  • Doing nothing: volume changes with age are normal

Charged per syringe used. Lips usually take one syringe, cheeks one or two. The amount is agreed at your exam.

Results vary from person to person, and nothing on this page is a promise of a particular result.
